What is the the story behind the organization's name?
Here at Far From Home Inc. we have a strong belief that birds belong in the wild. We are committed to caring for the birds that we as humans have brought up in captivity, however in our hearts we know that these birds really are far from home. Far From Home Inc. supports conservation of our planet's wild birds and the stop of the bird pet trade.
What stage of development is Far From Home Inc. currently in?
We are currently operating! We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit and are operating out of several foster homes around the state of Wisconsin. We are hoping to fundraise to get a space for our organization in the coming years.
How can I help?

Where is Far From Home Inc. located?
Our organization is based in the southeastern Wisconsin area. We are currently a foster based organization with foster homes around the state. We do not have a central location for interested adopters to visit at this time. Please reach out to us if you are interested in meeting with one of our animals.
Why is Far From Home Inc.'s large parrot application so lengthy?
Here at Far From Home Inc. , our goal isn't to be exclusive however, we recognize that larger parrots have a unique set of needs and want to make sure that each adopter is aware of them and able to provide for the parrots. We want to ensure that the home environment is conducive to housing a large bird, and that the family is able to devote the proper amount of time to the new pet. We aim to place our large parrots with the right owners so that they can live their best quality of life in captivity.
